Southern Garlic Catfish

Ingredients



  • Servings: 6

  • 1 1/2 lbs catfish fillets

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • garlic salt

  • 1/2 cup flour

  • 1/2 cup cornmeal

  • salt and pepper

  • cayenne pepper

  • vegetable oil (for frying)


Recipe



  • 1 heat a heavy skillet with 1-inch of oil.

  • 2 wash the catfish.

  • 3 beat the egg.

  • 4 lightly pepper and garlic salt the fish.

  • 5 mix the flour and cornmeal together; add salt and pepper to flour mix and stir to combine.

  • 6 dip the catfish in egg.

  • 7 dip in the breading twice.

  • 8 put the fish in hot oil.

  • 9 cook until golden brown and tender in the middle, about 8-12 minutes.

  • 10 drain on paper towels.

  • 11 optional: sprinkle with louisiana hot sauce.
