Two-basil Sparkling Lemonade

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon basil, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons lemon zest
  • 2 cups fresh lemon juice
  • 10 cups lemon-flavored sparkling water
  • 1 cup tequila

Recipe

  • 1 in a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar and honey; mix well.
  • 2 cook over medium heat until sugar has dissolved, stirring occasionally.
  • 3 add basil, lemon basil, and lemon peel.
  • 4 bring to a boil.
  • 5 remove from heat; cover and let stand for 30 minute.
  • 6 strain - discarding basil and lemon peel.
  • 7 stir in lemon juice.
  • 8 in a large pitcher, combine lemon juice mixture, sparkling water and tequila.
  • 9 stir gently to mix and serve over ice.
  • 10 garnish with lemon slice and basil leaves.
