Krispie Turtle Bars

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 250 g marshmallows
  • 150 g individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped (about18)
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips (or semi-sweet or dark if you prefer)
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 6 cups rice krispies cereal

Recipe

  • 1 melt butter in large saucepan over low heat.
  • 2 add marshmallows and 2/3 of the unwrapped caramels and stir until the white disappears into the caramel, stirring constantly, being careful not to burn.
  • 3 remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  • 4 press into a buttered rectangular glass or ceramic baking pan.
  • 5 sprinkle with chips and pecans, pressing them into the cereal.
  • 6 cut the remaining caramels into quarters and press them in as well.
  • 7 place in a 350 oven for a few minutes until the chips and caramels start to melt, being careful not to burn.
  • 8 allow to cool and cut into squares using a buttered knife.
