Ladies Aid Spice Cake

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 cup water
• 1 cup raisins
• 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon clove
• 1 3/4 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 cup nuts

Recipe

• 1 combine shortening, sugar, water, raisins, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves and bring to a boil. let cool.
• 2 combine flour, baking soda, and nuts. add to liquid mixture.
• 3 bake at 350 degrees in a greased and floured loaf pan, 50 minutes-1 hour.
• 4 for a 9x13 pan, double the recipe.
