French Fried Onions (gluten-free)

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 large onion
  • 1 1/2 cups soymilk (or other non-dairy milk)
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (bob's red mill makes a gluten-free a-p flour)
  • salt, to taste
  • oil, for frying

Recipe

  • 1 slice onions with a mandoline.
  • 2 soak in milk for 8 minutes.
  • 3 drain.
  • 4 heat oil to 375 degrees over medium heat for 10 minutes.
  • 5 toss onions with flour and salt and separate on parchment paper.
  • 6 let sit while oil heats.
  • 7 fry by spoonful until golden brown.
  • 8 drain.
  • 9 when cool, transfer to a super-airtight container.
