Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- oil, for frying
- confectioners' sugar
Recipe
- 1 sift first five ingredients together.
- 2 add sugar to melted butter and beat thoroughly.
- 3 beat eggs and add to sugar mixture.
- 4 add dry ingredients alternatively with milk to batter.
- 5 have dough a little stiffer than biscuit dough.
- 6 preheat oil to 360f in a large saucepan or stockpot.
- 7 roll dough to 1/4 inch on a floured board.
- 8 cut with doughnut cutter and fry until golden; turn and fry until golden on the other side.
- 9 drain on paper towels and sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.
