Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups butter flavor crisco, chilled
- 1/4 cup butter, chilled
- 1/2 cup ice water
- 2 teaspoons red wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Recipe
- 1 cubed the crisco and butter into small pieces.
- 2 in a large mixing bowl, with a hand mixer, beat the flour and salt together on lower speed for about 30 seconds.
- 3 add the crisco and butter and beat on medium until the mixture becomes meally.
- 4 stir together the water, vinegar, and vanilla (optional).
- 5 pour in the water slowly until the dough comes together.
- 6 pour dough out onto plastic wrap and wrap.
- 7 refringerate for at least 30 minutes or up to over night.
- 8 use as needed.
