Ingredients

- 1 lb lean ground beef or 1 lb lamb
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 6 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons finely minced fresh ginger
- salt
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 (10 ounce) package frozen peas, thawed
- 2 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup chickpeas, canned, rinsed (ceci, garbanzos)
Recipe
- 1 brown beef in a large skillet. drain all but 2 tablespoons of fat. add chopped.
- 2 onions, garlic, ginger and salt to beef. sauté 2 minutes. stir in spices and mix well. cook 1 minute over medium high heat. add peas, potatoes and mix again. bring to a boil, cover pan and cook over medium heat 10 minutes. stir in sauce, water and chickpeas.
