Khasta Kachoris' For Holi

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1 teaspoon jeera powder
- 1/8 teaspoon hing (asafoetida)
- 1 cup white urad dal (soaked in water and ground in the mixer/blender)
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 2 teaspoons saunf, powdered
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 2 teaspoons coriander powder
- 3/4 teaspoon amchur powder (mango powder)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup ghee
- water, to, knead
Recipe
- 1 put 1/4 cup oil in a pan.
- 2 add the filling ingredients.
- 3 mix well.
- 4 cook for a few minutes till the oil leaves the mixture and a wonderful aroma emerges.
- 5 remove from heat.
- 6 keep aside.
- 7 now start making the kachooris.
- 8 for this, take all the kachori ingredients and mix well in a bowl until a dough is formed.
- 9 (mix using your hands like for rotis).
- 10 make small balls out of the mixture.
- 11 using a rolling pin, roll them out till about palm size (not very big).
- 12 put a little of the filling in each of the balls and roll the sides so as to seal the kachoori.
- 13 deep fry in hot oil till golden brown.
- 14 drain on kitchen paper and serve immediately!
