Tasty Apple Galette

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter (no substitutes)
  • 6 -7 tablespoons cold water
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 6 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine, melted
  • 1/4 cup apricot jam
  • 1 tablespoon water

Recipe

  • 1 in a bowl, combine flour and salt; cut in butter until crumbly. sprinkle with cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and toss with a fork until the dough can be formed into a ball.
  • 2 on a floured surface, roll dough into a 13-inch circle. place on ungreased 12-inch pizza pan; turn edges under. sprinkle crust with 2 tablespoons sugar.
  • 3 beginning at the outside, arrange apples in a circular pattern, overlapping each slice. make a second circle, facing the opposite direction.
  • 4 continue alternating directions until crust is covered. brush apples with butter; sprinkle with remaining sugar.
  • 5 bake at 400°f for 40-50 minutes, or until the apples are tender and crust is golden. combine jam with water ; brush over apples , serve warm.
