Ingredients
- 2 cups wesson vegetable oil
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk or 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 2 ounces red food coloring
- 2 teaspoons cocoa
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 (16 ounce) box powdered sugar
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Recipe
- 1 for the cake, mix all ingredients well using a hand held mixer. mix until smooth consistency.
- 2 bake in three 8 inch layer cake pans at 350 degrees for approximately 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean.
- 3 let cake cool completely before trying to ice.
- 4 for cream cheese icing, cream butter and cheese together using a hand held mixer.
- 5 add sugar, vanilla and nuts and mix well.
- 6 spready evenly on cake.
