Ingredients
- 1 cup flour, sifted
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 2/3 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
Recipe
- 1 stir together to mix thoroughly flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt and garlic powder.
- 2 add egg, buttermilk and onion; mix well.
- 3 drop batter by rounded teaspoonfuls into deep hot fat (375 degrees).
- 4 cook, turning frequently, about 3 - 5 minutes, until golden brown.
