Ingredients
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 dash red pepper
- to taste chives (optional)
- 1 tablespoon onion, grated
Recipe
- 1 sift dry ingredients into a bowl.
- 2 in a separate bowl beat egg and milk together.
- 3 add to dry ingredients and stir.
- 4 stir in onion, red pepper and chives, if using.
- 5 drop by spoonfuls into hot fat in a deep fryer, 375 degrees, and fry until golden brown.
