Low Calorie Beef And Beans Chili

Ingredients

- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 lbs 93% lean ground beef
- 1 (15 ounce) can low-sodium kidney beans, drained
- 1 (15 ounce) can low sodium black beans, drained
- 1 (15 ounce) can low-sodium pinto beans, drained
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1/3 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 4 tablespoons dark chili powder
- 2 tablespoons mrs. dash hamburger grilling blend (or any grilling blend)
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 light
- salt substitute, if you wish
Recipe
- 1 heat oil in large pan.
- 2 saute onion till translucent or a tiny bit brown.
- 3 remove onion from pan and set aside.
- 4 start browing beef in same pan. add spices and worcestershire when there is still a little pink left and continue browning for another 5 minutes.
- 5 add the to deglaze pan and continue heating till reduces a bit.
- 6 while you're sauteeing your onions and browning your beef, drain and rinse the beans and put in a large pot. pour tomato sauce and barbecue sauce over beans. add the sauteed onion when it's ready.
- 7 pour beef/spice/ mixture into bean/sauce mixture.
- 8 add your hot sauce, to taste.
- 9 heat pot of chili over medium till it begins to bubble.
- 10 reduce heat, cover and let simmer for as long as you want, but at least an hour. taste and add no-salt salt substitute, if you'd like.
- 11 enjoy the chili plain or with low fat shredded cheddar cheese or fage 0% greek yogurt!
