Low Fat- Chicken-fried Steak With Potatoes & Gravy

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 4 potatoes, cut into 1/4 inch slices
  • 3/4 lb tenderized beef round steak, 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick
  • 1/3 cup finely crushed fat-free saltine crackers
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 1/3 cups skim milk
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • pepper
  • basil

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 400°f.
  • 2 coat a pan with nonstick spray. spread potatoes in pan. bake until tender, 15-18 minutes, turning once.
  • 3 cut meat into 4 pieces and trim off all fat.
  • 4 dip meat in egg and water mixture, then in crumbs, coating both sides well.
  • 5 spray a skillet with nonstick spray.
  • 6 brown meat on both sides until no longer pink, about 8 minutes.
  • 7 place meat on plate, cover and keep hot.
  • 8 in a bowl whisk milk, flour, basil and pepper until smooth. pour into the hot skillet and cook until thickened stirring constantly. serve with meat and potatoes.
