Low Fat- Chicken-fried Steak With Potatoes & Gravy

Ingredients

- 4 potatoes, cut into 1/4 inch slices
- 3/4 lb tenderized beef round steak, 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick
- 1/3 cup finely crushed fat-free saltine crackers
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 1/3 cups skim milk
- 2 tablespoons flour
- pepper
- basil
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 400°f.
- 2 coat a pan with nonstick spray. spread potatoes in pan. bake until tender, 15-18 minutes, turning once.
- 3 cut meat into 4 pieces and trim off all fat.
- 4 dip meat in egg and water mixture, then in crumbs, coating both sides well.
- 5 spray a skillet with nonstick spray.
- 6 brown meat on both sides until no longer pink, about 8 minutes.
- 7 place meat on plate, cover and keep hot.
- 8 in a bowl whisk milk, flour, basil and pepper until smooth. pour into the hot skillet and cook until thickened stirring constantly. serve with meat and potatoes.
