Spicy Fruit Finishing Glaze For Barbecue

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger or 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 -1 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 1/2 small onion, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups fruit preserves (such as raspberry, peach, apricot, cherry or your favorite)

Recipe

  • 1 in a small saucepan over low heat, stir together water and the next 10 ingredients. simmer, uncovered, until onion bits are very soft, about 5 minutes. add preserves and simmer, uncovered, about 20 minutes. mixture may appear a little thin, but will thicken.
  • 2 cool to room temperature then refrigerate until ready for use. refrigerate up to 2 weeks.
  • 3 apply as you would barbecue sauce in the last few minutes on the grill.
