Spicy Fruit Finishing Glaze For Barbecue

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger or 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 -1 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 1/2 small onion, minced
- 1 1/2 cups fruit preserves (such as raspberry, peach, apricot, cherry or your favorite)
Recipe
- 1 in a small saucepan over low heat, stir together water and the next 10 ingredients. simmer, uncovered, until onion bits are very soft, about 5 minutes. add preserves and simmer, uncovered, about 20 minutes. mixture may appear a little thin, but will thicken.
- 2 cool to room temperature then refrigerate until ready for use. refrigerate up to 2 weeks.
- 3 apply as you would barbecue sauce in the last few minutes on the grill.
