Southern Living's Lamb Chops With Cream Gravy

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 4 -6 lamb chops (1/2-inch thick)
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon browning sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

Recipe

  • 1 trim excess fat from lamb chops.
  • 2 sprinkle lamb chops lightly with salt and pepper.
  • 3 brown chops on both sides in hot oil, and drain on paper towels.
  • 4 reserve 2 tablespoons drippings in skillet.
  • 5 add flour to skillet, stirring until smooth. cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. gradually add milk; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly.
  • 6 stir in seasoning sauce, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper.
  • 7 add lamb chops to gravy; cover and simmer 45 minutes, turning chops occasionally.
  • 8 yield: 4 to 6 servings.
